About the Campaign

This disaster relief fund will support people in Greece impacted by the 7.0M earthquake in the form of emergency aid like food, water, medicine, and shelter. The fund will remain open to provide long-term assistance as needed. All donations to this fund will exclusively support communities and first responders impacted by this disaster.

Our Challenge
On Oct 30, 2020, a 7.0M earthquake in the Aegean Sea caused widespread damage along the coasts of both Turkey and Greece. At least 14 people were killed and more than 600 were injured from collapsed buildings and flooding according to local officials. This fund was created to provide immediate relief to survivors in the form of food, shelter, water, and medicine. After immediate needs are met, additional funds will support long-term assistance to help residents recover and rebuild.

Solution
All donations to this fund will support recovery and relief efforts for this earthquake. Initially, funds will help first responders meet survivors’ immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. The fund will later transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run primarily by local, vetted organizations in the communities affected in Greece.

Long-Term Impact
We believe that organizations that are deeply rooted in local communities are in the best position to provide long-term support for survivors of natural disasters like these. By funding the relief efforts of local organizations, donations to this fund have the potential to build stronger response capacity so that these organizations are better equipped to face future challenges.
